Overview

We’re looking for a Manager, Licensing & Commissions to lead a high-impact team responsible for agent licensing, appointments, and commission operations across all product lines and distribution channels.

 

This role is critical to ensuring our field force is licensed, appointed, and ready to sellwhile also ensuring commissions are paid accurately and in compliance with state regulations. You’ll serve as a key partner to our field organization, supporting agents and leaders with timely, accurate, and compliant licensing and compensation processes.

 

This position blends leadership, operational excellence, and regulatory expertise, with close partnership across Product, Actuarial, Accounting, Technology, and Distribution teams to ensure our processes are efficient, scalable, and aligned to business needs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Licensing & Commissions team, setting clear expectations and coaching for performance
  • Oversee agent licensing, appointments, renewals, and terminations, ensuring compliance with all state insurance regulations
  • Ensure agents are properly credentialed and supported to sell in all required states and product lines
  • Manage intermediary onboarding and contracting, including producer setup, background review, and appointment processes
  • Oversee accurate and timely commission payments, ensuring alignment with compensation structures and contracts
  • Serve as the business lead for system enhancements, testing, and implementation impacting licensing and agent pay
  • Partner closely with field leadership to support agent readiness, issue resolution, and ongoing compliance
  • Monitor reporting, controls, and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and operational integrity
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, streamline processes, and enhance the agent experience
  • Communicate proactively with internal teams and field partners to keep processes aligned and moving forward

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, along with insurance industry experience
  • Experience leading teams in a licensing, commissions, or insurance operations environment
  • Strong knowledge of agent licensing, state appointment requirements, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience supporting field operations and understanding the importance of agent readiness and service
  • Familiarity with licensing systems such as NIPR, Vertafore PLM, or similar platforms
  • Experience working with commission structures, payments, and reconciliation processes
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
  • Experience supporting system enhancements and process improvements (Agile familiarity a plus)
